This week we had to draw sequential poses, sort of like a storyboard. I chose to draw pole vaulters, and in the below drawing, I illustrate the process of a vaulter launching himself over the bar. This set of five sketches was my favorite of the fifty as I feel like it best showed the progressive poses of the vaulting process. I did mostly 30 second poses as I wanted to get some energy into the drawings.

Week 02 Classwork
This week we went to the Chiller in Easton to draw figure skaters. It was really fun and challenging to draw the split second poses of the skaters. I feel like I had a little hard time remembering what some of the poses were, and I wish I had been able to draw just a little bit faster so as to catch some of the nuances of the movements. However, I feel like I still managed to get some flowy poses and managed to make it work in the end. I just need to keep doing super fast drawing.

Weekly Homework 1/17/14
Here are the sketches I did for this week's homework assignment. I chose to draw from soccer games I watched on the internet. Most of the poses I chose were somewhat contorted or very "actiony" poses as I wanted to push myself to draw some stronger poses with kicks and tackles.
First Week of Cafe Sketch
Here are what I feel to be my five best drawings from the session on January 17, 2014. I feel like I was pretty rusty with figure drawing and gestures especially. Many of my forms came out very rigid and in the future I hope to put more fluidity into their poses. Also, I had a little trouble with foreshortening and proportion in some of the drawings, which I hope to correct with more drawing. However, one thing I thought I did well was creating a sense of mass in the figure and making him feel like he had some weight to him.
